Hi
I just wanted to tell you that I LOVED your answer to the elitist mail on the womens studies list, so often that list is so filled with overindulgence that it sickens me, i am only on it for announcements so i usually delete almost everything that comes through. I just quit grad school because of that kind of elitism so it is so great to see someone put them in their place for once instead of letting them get away with it so often!
Issues like these are often why women like me dont like feminism, it is almost always some whiny overindulged women trying to get even more than have, as if everything on earth should belong to them and they are so quick to try to silence anyone who calls them on it.
This NWSA stuff is ridiculous, like none of those academics who so want oyu there have no money to spare. When looking at womens studies conferences it is always so apparent that they only want a certain type of owman there the kind who has so much money and feels so free to squander it while other women, down the street from them go hungry, cold, without medicine, living in houses teeming with vermin & roaches.
I say good for you! Make them listen to you you dont owe them anything. My mom always said that they might be able to force us to live in a gutter but shed be damned if she wouldnt force them to hear about it, i have found that this policy has made my work quite fruitful and enjoyable!
Best,
Nicole
