{"id":73,"date":"2010-07-25T10:07:54","date_gmt":"2010-07-25T15:07:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/eminism.org\/blog\/?p=73"},"modified":"2010-07-25T10:10:17","modified_gmt":"2010-07-25T15:10:17","slug":"new-zine-release-surviving-the-witch-hunt-battle-notes-from-portlands-82nd-avenue-2007-2010","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/eminism.org\/blog\/entry\/73","title":{"rendered":"New Zine Release &#8211; Surviving the Witch-Hunt: Battle Notes from Portland&#8217;s 82nd Avenue, 2007-2010"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Just in time for the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.desireealliance.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Desiree Alliance<\/a> conference this week, &#8220;Working Sex: Power, Practice, and Politics,&#8221; which I am already starting to feel depressed about already by the way, I have published a new zine, &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/eminism.org\/store\/zine-emi.html\">Surviving the Witch-Hunt: Battle Notes from Portland&#8217;s 82nd Avenue, 2007-2010<\/a>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><i>Surviving the Witch-Hunt<\/i> chronicles the resistance against the massive anti-prostitution panic in east Portland neighbourhoods between 2007 and 2010 in which women trying to survive working on 82nd Avenue were targeted by baseball bat-wielding, camera phone-snapping, vigilante &#8220;community foot patrol&#8221; and other angry neighbours worried about their property value. <\/p>\n<p>The zine is available for download (PDF) for free, or it can be <a href=\"http:\/\/eminism.org\/store\/zine-emi.html\">purchased online<\/a> in hard copy.
