  1. To be fair there can be more than one hub, but there is a huge need for better statistics and analysis.

  2. Steve – I agree, but there are several things happening here:

    1) Local anti-trafficking groups in each region are exaggerating the problem in their area to gain people’s attention and to access funding.

    2) Some local governments are also exaggerating the problem to access federal funding.

    3) Law enforcement is definitely exaggerating big time (they know real numbers better than others, but selectively disclose them to maximize the impact)–more trafficking means more clout and power.

    4) Media exaggerate and sensationalize the problem because that’s just what they do.

  3. i chuckled at this. the international version goes like this: india is both a source and destination country for human traffickers. or turkey is a source, destination and transit country for trafficking. so silly.
